Pandora Looks More 1.0, But That's Good In This Case

AdAge reports that Clear Channel's radio ad sales arm is teed up to pitch Pandora right alongside other tradional radio stations. Doug Stern, Pandora's director-audio sales describes the next step in Pandora's desire to be the "the world's biggest radio station."

"We're seeing a gradual transformation where we kind of see Pandora Audio as radio, and that listeners aren't differentiating about the channels where they're listening to their favorite music -- they see it as music. If we can deliver gross rating points that complement a spot buy or radio buy we should be part of the media mix."

On a personal Pandora note, i still prefer the raw music search engine approach a la Songza. I find the ability to quickly scrape exact songs and build my own playlists keeps me returning. The Pandora super users won't be surprised to hear this, but Pandora's value still remains founded in the the Music Genome's original value prop: depth and discovery.
