I'll be an Eagles Fan This Year -- Go Kevin Kolb

There will be endless comparisons between the 25-year-old Kevin Kolb and the 33-year-old McNabb. We’ll dip into some right now by saying that Kolb doesn’t have McNabb’s cannon arm, but as some of the Eagle receivers have already proclaimed, he is superior in the accuracy department.

Houston Rises Again, Cooling Penders’s Hot Seat - NYTimes.com

He said he needed somebody who didn’t care about that stuff and that wasn’t spoiled,” Penders said Monday. “He was being so negative and telling me how impossible it was.

Good read on Tom Penders..hope Houston can upset Maryland in the tourney..unlikely but it's March Madness so anything is possible.

HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team needed just one run to knock off No. 3 Texas, 1-0, Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 at the Houston College Classic.

After Michael Goodnight struck out three of the five batters he faced to open the game, Blake Kelso carried that momentum to the bottom of the inning with a leadoff triple deep to right center. He would go on to score on the next pitch, a wild pitch by Texas pitcher Brandon Workman.

That would be the end of all the scoring in the contest against the Longhorns, as Houston notched its second consecutive shutout at the tournament. It marks the first back-to-back shutouts for Houston since doing so against Cincinnati on April 11-12, 1998.

Houston also snapped a five-game losing streak against Texas, as they improve to 30-90-2 in the all-time series.

Goodnight went seven innings on the mound, giving up just two hits with nine strikeouts for his second win of the season. In one inning of relief, Ty Stuckey held Texas hitless with two strikeouts. Matt Creel earned the save, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

With two wins in the win column at the Classic, Houston has recorded at least two victories at the Astros' park for the first time since 2001.

Houston will close out play at the Houston College Classic on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against Texas Tech. Prior to the start of the game, UH quarterback Case Keenum will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Junior wide receiver James Cleveland was named First-Team All-Conference USA.

"The reigning Football Bowl Subdivision leader in total offense, Keenum leads the nation again in the total offense (429.3 yards per game), as well as passing (419.2 ypg.) and touchdown passes (43) and has guided the Cougars to a national ranking in 2009, while setting several UH and C-USA records along the way."

It's Been A Long Time Since My Alma Mater Won An NCAA Tourney Game

"Nary a player on the team was alive the last time UH won an NCAA Tournament game — 49-47 against Virginia in overtime in the 1984 semifinals."

Top 10 old-school teams making comebacks [NCAA Football]

Ahh..the glory days from the Alma Mater.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The Cougars were an elite team in two decades -- the late '60s and '70s. In fact, Houston was ranked in the top 20 seven times in the '70s, including four top 10 finishes. This is, after all, a school that gave us Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware in 1989. After being investigated for more than 250 NCAA violations, the Cougars were barred from playing in bowls for two years in 1988 and lost 10 scholarships. They also saw their Southwest Conference disband in 1996. But now they're back. Could the C-USA's Cougars be the third-best team in Texas, ahead of A&M and Tech? For now, the polls say yes."
