Idaho Wind To Power 39,700 Homes

"The wind energy project is expected to create 175 construction jobs as well as permanent employment for operations and maintenance. In addition to the people employed directly, GE said, models suggest “that a wind project of this size would typically support the equivalent of 2,200 full-time jobs in the United States for one year—about half of which would be in-state—and create 25 permanent jobs.”

Fossil Fuel PR Wins Again

"Although there have been no turbine-related security incidents yet reported, Dr. Dorothy Robyn, deputy under secretary of defense, says they cause an "unacceptable risk to training, testing and national security". What with this and Senator Feinstein banning solar panels as well, it looks like the US may as well resign itself to getting most of its energy from setting fire to dead stuff for the foreseeable future. Urban Green Energy Pitches Small-wind Turbine

"..small-wind turbines are becoming one of the many gadgets consumers crave. The New York City-based company next month plans to make available a one-kilowatt version of its Eddy small-wind turbine, which will cost $6,600 before installation. With good wind conditions, the grid-connected turbine can generate at least 1,500 kilowatt-hours a year, offsetting most homes' total electricity use, Blitterswyk said."

U.S. Wind Power Manufacturing

according to the recent report Harnessing the Potential of Open Trade...in the Wind Energy Industry from the World Resources Institute, off-shoring wind industry manufacturing to places where labor is cheap has no significant cost benefit over domestic manufacturing because of transport costs. The U.S. wind manufacturing base can, therefore, be expected to grow as long as the industry does.
